South African Business Leaders, we are in this together. How do we recover from this together?
A global leader in market research, MRM has 25 years' experience in partnering with clients to build a brand loyal following across the African continent.
There is a lot of data floating around right now. Conflicting data. Data offering little to no insight.
One media outlet tells us that the South African economy will contract by 6% this year [1]. Another says it will contract by 16% [2]. Job loss forecasts vary just as much. Different sources point to 2020 job losses being 4 million, 1.6 million and 7 million, respectively [3, 4]. No one knows what the future looks like.
There is no single version of the truth.
One thing is for sure, South African Business Leaders are in this on our own. Help is not coming. All we have is each other.
We are too heavily reliant on media and government statements to influence our decision making and forecasting processes. Of course, both sources must shape part of our thinking, but they cannot be the only two we rely on.
Thousands of South African Business Leaders are asking the same questions and looking for the same answers. We are making decisions that make sense to us, but we have nothing to measure them against.
When will other businesses start spending again? Is every sales team as ineffective as mine right now? Are all businesses going digital? Should I kill my marketing budget? Is it prudent for my employees to work from home long-term? How many of us think we can get to the other side?
As things stand, we are on the back foot. If we are really in this together, we need each other to get out of it. We need to collaborate to drive a collective recovery.
MRM Support is rolling out a research project aimed at South African businesses. Our objective is to ignite the data sharing and collaboration we need to make better decisions in mapping our recovery process.
The research is aimed at CEO’s, MD’s and Directors in companies with an annual turnover of R15m and over. The results we collect will provide Business Leaders with the ability to compare their current circumstances and their recovery strategies to businesses across the country, in a completely confidential way.
We would like you to be a part of this project.
With access to our live business intelligence dashboards you will be able to view the data of other respondents and compare their current situation and strategic future planning to yours. For the first time since this all started, you will know with a high degree of certainty “what is going on out there?”.
It will not only be the lucky ones, the early adopters and innovators that make it through this but also the Collaborators. MRM Support is excited to form the foundation of that collaborative effort and to join forces with Business Leaders in driving the recovery of the South African Business Sector.
